Sunrise Point Resort Amenities
Americans seeking memorable outdoor recreation visit the Ozarks year around. The season you most enjoy depends on your favorite outdoor activity. For example, while trout fishing is excellent all year, the serious trophy fishermen come in February and March. Those who like to mountain bike, day hike, ride horseback, and explore our forests prefer April, May, and October, but you can do any of the above year around. Birders prefer May and September for watching song bird migrations, then eagle watching in the winter months. Snow is rare in the Ozarks as far as any lasting accumulation, and few days of the year are below freezing.
June, July and August are the best months to be on Norfork Lake for swimming, skiing, and boating. Summer night fishing is very popular. Norfork water is clear enough to see the bottom 20 feet down so scuba divers enjoy spear fishing from late May through mid September. This is the time of year to beat the heat by floating, tubing, and swimming the day away.
Those who visit the Ozarks on a regular basis like to argue which month has the best weather, but few deny that May and October offer the most beautiful conditions for anything except being in the water. Our families of course come in the summer months when school is out so the kids can be in the water. But our traveling couples know that mid April through mid June are the prime spring weeks when the air is warm and clear, not hot and humid. Still others prefer the cool, clear skies we get in October through mid November. If you would like to plan an Ozark trip anytime of year and use Sunrise Point Resort as your base of operation, give us a call and we’ll help you plan your activities.
