Call Us For Year Around Trip

The Seasons
Americans seeking memorable outdoor recreation visit the Ozarks year around. The season
you most enjoy depends on your favorite outdoor activity. For example, while trout fishing
is excellent all year, the serious trophy fishermen come in February and March. Those who
like to mountain bike, day hike, ride horseback, and explore our forests prefer April,
May, and October, but you can do any of the above year around. Birders prefer May and
September for watching song bird migrations, then eagle watching in the winter months.
Snow is rare in the Ozarks as far as any lasting accumulation, and few days of the year
are below freezing.June, July and August are
the best months to be on Norfork Lake for swimming, skiing, and boating. Summer night
fishing is very popular. Norfork water is clear enough to see the bottom 20 feet down so
scuba divers enjoy spear fishing from late May through mid September. This is the time of
year to beat the heat by floating, tubing, and swimming the day away.
Those who visit the Ozarks on a regular basis like to argue
which month has the best weather, but few deny that May and October offer the most
beautiful conditions for anything except being in the water. Our families of course come
in the summer months when school is out so the kids can be in the water. But our traveling
couples know that mid April through mid June are the prime spring weeks when the air is
warm and clear, not hot and humid. Still others prefer the cool, clear skies we get in
October through mid November. If you would like to plan an Ozark trip anytime of year and
use Sunrise Point Resort as your base of operation, give us a call and we'll help you plan
your activities. |

At The Resort
The swimming pool is open from mid May through
Mid September. With the rec hall right next to the pool children enjoy mixing swimming
with playing games. Playing horse shoes and shuffle board is popular with adults any time
of year, but are especially popular during cook outs. Because our dock has a swimming and
sunning deck many people prefer swimming in the lake while others in their party water ski
and tube. For those who enjoy walking or running, there are several miles of quiet roads
lined with wildflowers and scenic spots. |

Children enjoy running back and forth between
the games in the rec hall and the swimming pool. |

On The Lake
Water skiing, tubing, sight-seeing from a boat,
swimming and picnicking at Sand Island, jumping off the bluffs, and fishing are all
equally popular with guests. Whether you rent a boat at a near-by marina or bring your own
you can moor at our private dock which has a fish cleaning station and sun/swimming deck.
The cooler months are some of the most beautiful. This is the time of year when many
guests go on day hikes, go mountain biking, go birding, and drive the scenic routes.
Wildflower walks are best in the spring, fall foliage occurs in mid to late October.
Fishing is very good in cooler months so many guests combine area activities with fishing
for crappie, largemouth, smallmouth, white bass, stripers, and catfish. Our central
location on the lake offers fast access to many prime fishing spots. |
